Green Steps moves beyond our flagship university and work-based courses to deliver a range of services to organisations. From one-off training through to a complete design and implementation consultation, we can support your organisations and staff to gain the practical skills needed to move forward on embedding sustainability in the workplace.
Having worked across a wide sector and client base over the past 13 years, we have extensive resources and consultative approaches to ensure we understand and meet each organisation’s needs. We’ll first work with you to gain an insight on your key challenges and the context in which you work. We will work with you to co-design a learning experience that offers the best outcome for your needs whilst meeting your timeframe, resources and budget.
TAILORED TRAINING PROGRAMS
Interested in providing a group of your staff with sustainability skills and work- based projects, but can’t afford to send them all to an @Work course? Green Steps can tailor our modular training package to develop and deliver more condensed and targeted training course for staff.
Since 2011, we have been delivering Green Steps @ Wannon Water - a 3 day green team sustainability training and work-based projects course for Wannon Water (a south-west Victorian water authority). We have also run half-day to two day tailored offerings for local councils, state government departments and private business.
PROGRAM DESIGN AND DELIVERY
We have been increasingly called upon to assist other clients - local council, government agencies and departments and community sector organisations - to use our expertise in sustainability to develop solutions for in-house training, facilitation and on-going education that engage staff on specific sustainability related topics.
Recently Fuji Xerox Australia (FXA) wanted to develop a Green Print Clinic for their clients - a workshop that trained participants in sustainable printing principles. While FXA had much of the technical content, they asked Green Steps to develop the workshop format, content and style to ensure that it was interactive, engaging and enjoyable for their clients.
Green Steps programs are based on group learning models where engagement from participants is key to achieving a high quality experience from the training. Our staff play a key role in ensuring maximum engagement from an often diverse mix of participants, from the beginners, to the advanced sustainability practitioners all sharing their experiences and knowledge in a safe environment. Our approach is a refreshing change for many participants, and we often support organisations to facilitate the strategic development and delivery of their training programs.
Our recent work with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) involved the development of a new training package to train a particular audience. Rather than create something ourselves based on our knowledge, we facilitated a day long workshop with the core OEH team (together with some members of the target audience) to collaboratively develop the learning outcomes, format and identify proposed content for the course. This resulted in a much more appropriate course, with strong ownership from the major stakeholders.
